AMUNDI and CACEIS accelerate the growth of Fund Channel

Amundi, a European leader in asset management, and CACEIS, a banking institution specializing in financial services subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole and Santander groups, today announce the strengthening of their strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Fund Channel, the distribution of B-2 -B funds. Under this agreement, CACEIS acquires 33.33% of Fund Channel, of which Amundi remains the majority shareholder.

The fourth European platform for B-2-B funds, Fund Channel is ranked first by Platforum [1] for quality of service. It offers access to more than 600 wealth managers, connecting to more than 100 distributors in Europe and Asia.

CACEIS clients will benefit from the broad range of fund distribution services from a leading platform. This partnership will enable Fund Channel's clients to benefit from a comprehensive offering of fund execution services. Furthermore, the two partners will continue to develop their long-term cooperation in other areas of growth: services related to the distribution of funds and data management.

This project is part of the Strategic Ambitions 2025 Plan announced by Amundi to investors in June 2022 with a target of over € 600 billion of intermediate assets by the end of 2025 for Fund Channel.

Fund Channel leverages key trends in the European open architecture distribution market. In fact, distributors are increasingly resorting to the outsourcing of certain services to reduce costs, increase size and improve services for their customers. For the fifth consecutive year, fund distribution platforms have grown faster than the European fund market and now account for over 25% of distributed UCITS funds [2].

The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2022, subject to approval by relevant regulatory authorities.

Valérie Baudson, CEO of Amundi, said: "I am convinced that this industrial and commercial partnership will create value for both companies and distributors, who are increasingly looking for services through the full value of investment and savings. It will also strengthen Fund Channel's position as a major player in a rapidly growing market ”.

Jean-François Abadie, CEO of CACEIS adds: “This joint venture will significantly strengthen Fund Channel's profile as a fund distribution platform in Europe and Asia. By joining forces with Amundi, we have created a strategic partnership that enriches the fund distribution support offerings of CACEIS and Fund Channel, while meeting the demands of our current and future clients in the most efficient way ”.
